Prince's
Universe

In 2001, Renato was invited to join The New Power Generation (NPG), Prince's band.

 

For eleven years, he took part in historic moments of the legendary artist’s career, including iconic tours such as Musicology and Welcome to America, the Super Bowl XLI halftime show watched by over 140 million viewers, and the recording of albums like N.E.W.S and Planet Earth.

 

This collaboration allowed Renato to develop a unique versatility, moving effortlessly between funk, rock, jazz, and pop, while also honing his production and arrangement skills under the mentorship of one of music’s greatest innovators.

Soundtrack

Renato Neto’s compositions for films and few trailers go beyond mere background music to become essential narrative elements. With keen sensitivity, he crafts soundscapes that amplify emotions and enrich the cinematic experience.

Plugins Amazônicos

In 2012, a trip to the Amazon inspired Renato to create his solo album Plugins Amazônicos, which blends electronic music with Brazilian indigenous sounds, reflecting his ongoing exploration of new musical expressions.

Rod Stwart

Co-produced alongside Rod Stewart, the album sold over 15 million copies worldwide and was awarded a Platinum Record for its outstanding commercial success.

Musical Direction
Alma Awards

As musical director alongside Sheila E. at the Alma Awards, Renato directed performances by legends such as Celia Cruz, Tito Nieves, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Patti LaBelle and Stevie Wonder, demonstrating his ability to orchestrate complex shows.

With Joe Bonamassa, Tal Bergman, Ron DeJesus, and Mike Merritt, Renato explored the boundaries between funk, jazz, and rock, releasing three albums and a live DVD recorded at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York.
